Calling Card PC and Childhood Memories

Hello, kitty.
Growing up on a farm meant there were always cats around.   Each springtime, we'd eagerly await the new batch of kittens that was sure to arrive.  As the kitties grew, my brothers, sister, and I would hold "kitten races" in the lawn.  Each kid would choose a racer, then we'd line them up on the starting line.  One or more of us would speed over to the finish line and then the coaxing and cajoling would begin as we cheered our kitten to victory.  Too often the little guys would veer off course, only to be picked up and plopped back on track.

Of course, the kittens had no idea what was expected of them.  Some would plunk themselves down mid-course and refuse to budge.  Others would run, mewing loudly, in whatever direction they found themselves.  Usually the winners were the friendliest of the litter.  These were the ones that wanted to get back into their kid's clutch as fast as possible.

There's nothing like a sweet fuzzy kitten!  I remember a few times having kitten vs. bunny races.  I think we even tried it with baby ducks vs. kittens once.  Those were some fun times.

I chose to mount an ATC to a postcard for this piece.  My goal was to simulate textures, but keep the thing 2-D.  I used a cheese grater to make a rubbing, then stamped a cheesecloth image and a swirly star motif.

The ATC itself is colored with Prismacolors, and has a sponged background.  Two tiny kitties were added on the right for balance.

Stamps Used:  StampFrancisco (Calling Card Cat), 100 Proof Press (tiny kitties), Print Works (swirly star motif), Stampin' Up! (cheesecloth).
